Hi, I Had Tuberculosis As A Small Child (2 Years

I had tuberculosis as a small child (2 years old) back in 1964. I was treated for approximately 5 years with a variety of drugs and was considered "cured." To this day, I am unable to take a TB test since it always reacts negatively to the prone test. Do you know if there are any long lasting effects from having TB? I tend to fatigue fairly easily and seem to pick up colds and upper respiratory problems (colds, sinus infections) more than the average person. I'm curious if this could be a result of my TB? No one in my healthcare seems to know much about this...
Possibility of allergic rhinitis is more likely in your case.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Ask a doctor forum.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis is more likely.
TB in childhood can cause chronic sequel like chronic bronchitis, bronchiectesis, lung fibrosis or lung cancer.
But neither of them causing recurrent cold and Sinus issues.
So your symptoms are not mostly due to previous TB infection.
Possibility of allergic rhinitis is more likely.
May I know
1. Do you have allergies?
2. Have you ever consulted ENT doctor?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
