Hi! I Have A Question About My Medication. I Take
I take zoloft for anxiety for about 4 months and I am also perscribed ambien for sleep. I only take 37.5 of the zoloft - am very sensitive to meds and 10 mg of ambien. Anyway I have found that over the past week or so my ambien has completely stopped working. Is there some interaction with the zoloft. It is the only thing that helps me sleep. And so it is very difficult.
Is there any other reason the ambien won't work anymore? Do I need a higher dose?
Ambien is known to cause tolerance
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for using ask a doctor service
If we consider direct drug interactions then there are no direct drug interactions between drugs. Sertraline or Zoloft is known to cause sedation so should help you.
Ambien is a z drug and is a good hypnotic drug. Like most of the drugs for sleep then drug is known to cause dependence and tolerance though to less extent. The effectiveness decreases with time and regular use. This could be the reason the drug has stopped working. What is the dose of the drug you are taking?
Increase in dose should help you. Please talk to a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks
