Hi, I Have A Question About The Symptoms Of Myelodysplastic

Question: Hi, I have a question about the symptoms of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Is one of the symptoms being always hungry? I would wake up after a good night of rest being so hungry that I feel so depleted (very rundown). I would eat a lot more food than I normally would eat to bring my energy level back up. It usually takes couple hours until I feel better. However, I would have to eat through out the day to maintain my energy level. If I don't eat I would start feeling drained. I would like you to discuss this with you further, please. I was diagnosed last week being in one of the early stages of MDS. I see the specialist this week. But I want to be prepared before seeing the specialist with discussing this with another specialist.

Brief Answer:
MDS

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking

Myelodysplastic syndromes are a group of disorders caused by poorly formed blood cells or ones that don't work properly.

The symptoms that you have prescribed are not usual for MDS.Some of symptoms are fatigue, shortness of brith, petechia ,infections etc
In my opinion you feel hungry because this diagnosis it’s new to you and you need time to accept this fact.
Also the fact that you are eating more than usual it’s not related to MDS.

Regards

So being hungry is not related to MDS. Very interesting. Your opinion of it being new is not correct. I was hungry for about six weeks before I was diagnosed. The food helps me to regain the strength. It feels like I need twice the food to keep going.

Should I have this checked out before I have any treatments for the MDS? It feels like I have an absorption problem. Who should I go to? Please help.

Detailed Answer:
Dear,

I still don’t believe that your symptoms are related to MDS,I believe that you may have eating disorders physical, social, and psychological factors may contribute to the development of an eating disorder.

Despite I don’t believe that you have malabsorption you may have tests for measure the level of specific nutrients vit B12,iron,calcium,albumin,proteins,phosphorus,caroten,folate

Ok, I believe you that my hunger symptoms are not related to MDS. I still believe that I have some kind of malabsorption problem. Because I have been eating more food to maintain my strength. I do feel better but I need to keep eating through out the day.

I should let you know also that I was tested positive for the MTHFR C677T Heterozygous. Should I worry about that too? Is this my problem?
