Brief Answer:
sebaceous cyst or lipoma likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, soft lump over the lower part of shin may be related to soft tissue lesion as lipoma or sebaceous cyst most likely.

However, details of the following would help to differentiate among the above possibilities.

1. Are there any overlying skin changes?
2. Do you notice any central pit or punctum over the swelling or lump?
3. If visible over the surface, a high-resolution photo image of the lump as an attachment during follow up discussion.

Awaiting your response...

Thank you for your response Dr , yes I thought it may be something like this . To be honest it is very small (1.5cm maybe ? ) but I notice it when I run my finger over the area . It’s a little tender but I think that’s to do with the location on the shin ? No real skin change ,no central pit or punctum . I will send image across , thanks

Brief Answer:
image seen. follow up answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the image which is clear in quality.

* The area is suggestive of soft tissue swelling beneath the skin and its just
beginning stage.

* At present, there is nothing to be worried of, just keep a regular watch on
its size or other changes.
You should take care of avoidance of direct pressure over the area.

You should consult your primary care in case of

- increasing pain
- redness over the skin
- any pus discharge after bursting of skin
- increase in size

Regards.
