Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thank you for using the 'Ask a Doctor' service.
Fever and body aches are common presenting symptoms of infections. The most worrisome of the symptoms you've mentioned is neck pain. Neck pain and fever particularly when accompanied by severe headache may indicate meningitis which is one of the most serious infections. Without headache, the risk for meningitis is much lower. Taking into account that meningitis is a rare infection the lack of headache makes this diagnosis even less likely. Despite that having neck pain is worrisome as different individuals may experience different symptoms when having the same type of infection.
Having more information might help to approach this case more effectively. For example did you have any of the following symptoms (and which?) - cough, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, flank pain, burning pain during urination, urgency, etc. Your medical history might be relevant as well, so if you can provide any more details it may help.
Your primary care physician should be able to extract more information with clinical examination and assess your neck as well.
Acetaminophen should take care of the symptoms for now. If your neck pain gets worse or if you develop any other symptoms then the visit to your primary care physician would become necessary.
I hope I've answered your question. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Kind Regards!
