Hi, I Have Been Having Ear Pressure And Pain/popping In
Question: Hi, I have been having ear pressure and pain/popping in my ears for the last few days along with soreness in my neck. I went to blow out and pop my ears and my nose started beeding. I have also had nose bleeds in the same nostril over the last few months at random times. What could be causing this? Thank you for your help!
Also, I was in the ER a few days and they said I did have fluid build up on my ears and it was starting to get cloudy. I just wanted to add that to my question. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Acute sinusitis with Eustachian tube block
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
1. After analyzing your history I am of the opinion that you could be suffering from Acute sinusitis affecting the nasal mucosa and the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear).
2. The congestion in the nasal mucosa is the reason for your nasal bleed and Eustachian tube block.
3. My suggestions to you are:
a. Use saline nasal spray as frequently as possible. This moistens the nasal mucosa and reduces the nasal congestion. Nasal bleed will stop and the mucus from the sinus and the middle ear will clear off gradually.
b. A mucolyte such as bromhexine/acetylcysteine can help in clearing the fluid build in the middle ear.
c. Do steam inhalation 2-3 times a day for not more than 5 minutes.
d. Drink frequent sips of warm water.
e. Avoid blowing the nose, taking coffee or smoking.
Hope with the above measures you should get better. Revert back to me if you have any follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Relief depends upon the severity of the infection...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
1. Yes, headache is one of the chief symptoms of Acute sinusitis. This is due to blockage of the paranasal sinuses with or without accumulation of the secretions inside it.
2. The tingling sensation in the throat could be either due to the post nasal drip or the mouth breathing causing the dryness of the throat.
3. The relief in symptoms depends on the severity of the infection. Usually, it takes 3-7 days for the symptoms to settle with appropriate medications and home remedies.
Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you a speedy recovery.
