Question: Hi. I have been out of the hospital for a month and out of nowhere last night woke up 2 different times with leg cramps, BAD, and chils. No other problems since I have been home. Should I be worried, or is this normal and can be corrected?

Brief Answer:
Hi,

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query

Muscle cramps in legs & chills some times may be due to muscle strain, lack of sleep & dehydration etc. These are usually self limiting & go by themselves in some time. However, if the symptoms persist, then it is always good to see your doctor to find the cause & treatment accordingly, as these may be due to certain medical conditions like infections, electrolyte imbalance etc. Impaired blood supply to legs due to diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis of arteries as well as certain conditions of heart.
Also, as you are on diuretics like furosemide & spironolactone, it may cause dehydration due to more fluid drainage & also due to depletion of salts like potassium, sodium or magnesium & calcium which may also cause cramps of legs.
