Question: Hi, I have had a chest cough for several days. When I take a deep breath and exhale, it ends in a wheeze. I am coughing up yellow-green mucus now. There is drainage at the back of my nose, soft, pallet, and throat. I feel tired. It started with a sore throat and red splotches in my throat (I had my tonsils and uvula out several years ago). Should I see a doctor?

Brief Answer:
Bronchitis is possible and antibiotics may be needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Listening to your symptoms I believe you may be suffering from bronchitis.
It would be a good idea to visit a doctor to listen to your lungs with a stethoscope to confirm the diagnosis. I believe you need antibiotics and it needs a doctor prescription. Amoxicillin would be preferable.

Also, continue to use Mucinex to thin secretions. Use steam room and vapor to help thin and expectorate secretions.

Hope I have answered the question.
