Question: Hi. I have heart palpitations that go beat beat beat stop beat. My doctor said its nothing to worry about after doing a ecg test but has asked me to do a ct angiogram for my mind to relax. I am very anxious and have anxiety and panic attacks. The thought of doing a ct scan is freaking me out. Would a ultrasound be as effective?

Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation

Detailed Answer:
After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that your symptoms are quite non-specific for having a cardiac disease and it’s just your anxiety levels that is creating problem for you.

As you are experiencing missed beats and your ECG is alright it’s advisable to get a 24 hour halter monitoring done First which should be the next step in evaluation to rule out any underlying transient Cardiac arrhythmia.

As you want to avoid CT so it’s advisable that you should first get a stress echocardiogram done which is a first step before going for CT.

Kindly discuss this with your treating doctor.

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards

If they were normal then you need not worry and just keep maintaining healthy lifestyle routine with includes proper diet and daily exercise.
