Hi, I Have Recently Had An Abdominal Ultrasound And Attached
Question: Hi,
I have recently had an abdominal ultrasound and attached report.
Is the description in the report consistent with a fatty liver condition only or are there other possibilities that should be explored?
Would a CT scan be necessary or have all tumour-like possibilities already been excluded?
Thanks,
Regards.

Brief Answer:
CT to be done
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
The report is not consistent with a simple fatty liver.
The echogenicity is not uniform.
So a CT scan may be done for proper assessment.

Thanks Dr. Kini,
I note the report mentions probable focal fat sparing. Does this mean that the results most likely indicate fatty liver?
Would an MRI also be enough for an accurate assessment of the liver?
In regards to the CT scan and in view of the radiation exposure, would the scan also be able to determine the condition of my hiatal hernia and whether the interior of the stomach is in good condition or would a gastroscopy normally be required? Could an MRI do so?
Thankyou,
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Answer given below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The results may indicate fatty liver but has to be confirmed with CT scan or MRI because of findings like probable focal fat sparing.
Yes MRI abdomen can also be done instead of CT scan.
No MRI scan will not show the details of the interior of the stomach.
For that a gastroscopy has to be done.

Thanks Dr. R.K,
Would a CT scan show up details of the abdomen such as inflammation of the stomach or only in some cases, eg. acute cases.
Thanks,
