Brief Answer:
gargle with salt water, oral meds, chloroseptic
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Most lumps or bumps or lesions are not related to cancer, thankfully especially if they have not been present for a long period of time.
Cancer tends to grow/change slowly.
The painful lesion is likely due to either trauma to the gums in that area or infection, trauma is most common out of the two.
You may consider the following: (1)gargle with salt water 3 to 4 times a day
(2)use of a topical agent such as chloroseptic gargle or spray
(3)oral anti inflammatory pain medications such as ibuprofen or cataflam or naproxen- one of these can be used- would help with the pain and reduce the size of the mass/ball
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Sorry about the delayed reply
Canker sores occur commonly unfortunately, in most persons, they are not associated with significant condition. In some persons , however, can be due to impaired immune system or anemia
Gargling with salt water or using sprays such as chloroseptic (contains an anti septic and pain reliever)
if it is difficult to heal, then a full blood count can be done- this would check for anemia and also assess immune system
