Hi, I Have Very Weak Muscles On My Right Leg.

Question: Hi, I have very weak muscles on my right leg. I was born with cerebral palsy (the whole right side of my body is weaker) so I guess that's the cause. But last year I hurt my right knee very badly many times (I was on my right side born with a bad kneecap which makes it easy for the kneecap to slips out of its normal position)... so my right leg is probably even weaker by now. Because of this I can't do daily activities like I used to, not even something as simple as going to the café, etc. My leg is so stiff and feels so weird, i have to move my leg every minute to get rid off the discomfort feeling. My whole leg is bad, down to my toes.

The biggest problem I have is that I can't sit, on chairs etc. I can only on the mornings sit for a few seconds then I have to stand up because it gets too uncomfortable, my leg feels too discomfortable... I feel discomfort from sitting/standing up.( on days/afternoons/evenings/nights my leg feel worse.. it feels slightly better on mornings only, but of course it still feels bad) Yesterday I took the flight with my mom, so I had no other choice than to sit...when we arrived to the destination, my mom had to help me up, it was impossible for me to stand up on my own, my leg is too weak/stiff for that.I can only stand up on my own if I sit just for a few seconds. I have even hurt my knee from just sitting, and I have also hurt my knee sometimes from standing up.

So if I'm not mistaken, the discomfort from sitting/standing.. and for sometimes hurting my knee (it slips out of its normal location, or its just a spraining) when I sit or stand up , is because of my weak muscles on my right leg. They might do a big knee surgery , but my leg muscles won't get any stronger from a knee surgery, so I guess that even after surgery I still will feel discomfort (and still have risks from hurting my knee) when sitting/standing, because of my weak muscles. Do you have any suggestions what I can do to get stronger leg muscles?

Thank you beforehand :) (I'm not sure if I did chose the right specialty, as I don't know if orthopedics has enough knowledge of weak muscles )

Brief Answer:
Can be due to nerve weakness.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The weakness in the muscles that you are feeling can be related to nerve weakness caused by cerebral palsy or low levels of vitamin B12. This can also be related to a muscle stiffness and decreased muscle tone that can be relieved with oral muscle relaxants and a regular exercise to build up the muscle strength. You also need to get your serum Calcium and vitamin D3 levels checked and start with proper supplements if needed.
Increasing the intake of electrolyte rich fluids and green leafy vegetables rich in magnesium.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
