Hi, I Have What I Was Told Is A Tonsil

I can send a picture but I don’t know how.
I am 40, healthy non smoker, take no meds
Mucocele located on the tonsil, it’s harmless...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
I have examined the image thoroughly and I am of the opinion that it’s a harmless mucocele of the minor salivary glands and not a tonsil stone.
First of all, I would like to reassure you that it’s a harmless accumulation of fluid material inside the minor salivary gland. There are numerous minor salivary glands located all over the oral cavity and the throat. Sometimes due to the trauma to the opening of the salivary gland, the duct gets blocked following which the saliva gets trapped leading to ballooning of the gland. That is what is seen in your case.
It’s a harmless swelling and it may break open once the pressure increases leading to draining of the secretions trapped.
Whereas, the tonsil stones are substances which are cheesy to semisolid in consistency located in the folds or crypts of the tonsils. These are formed following accumulation of the food materials in the tonsillar folds admixed with the chemicals in the saliva. This is also completely harmless. But, in your case I don’t see any tonsil stones.
Don’t attempt to dislodge the same. This can traumatize the tonsil and bleed.
Hope this answers your query; I would be available for the follow up queries.

Do gargles every time, after your meals
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
The best remedy for this is to drink frequent sips of water and do throat gargles with the normal drinking water, every time you finish your meals.
Avoid sharp food such as crisps for sometime.
Hope this clarifies your doubts. I wish you good health.
