Question: Hi, I just experienced what might be a panic attack, but it's making me nervous as I am overweight and have high blood pressure. I am a 20 year old male, 6ft and weighing 260. Over the course of two or three hours, my breathing became shallow and my heart rate increased, I felt anxious and tired at the same time, I thought I was having a heart attack. I became extremely nervous and felt like I was going to die. My palms started sweating and I was taking short breaths. My chest felt tight. I sat down for a while and eventually returned somewhat to normal. My breathing is back under control and I feel fine for the most part but now I'm nervous if I just had a heart attack and don't know it. How would I know if it's something serious?

Brief Answer:
It is a panic attack not heart attack

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice .

The episode you mentioned doesn't seem much like a heart attack but it looks like panic attack. An ECG and cardiac troponins level in blood can be done to find any heart problem.
Also you are very young and heart attack is not common for your age even though you may be overweight.
A heart attack causes an intense chest pain and can't go away so easily.
You don't have to fear about having had a heart attack.
Avoid stressful situations, stay calm and keep a healthy diet and exercising.
Calming magnesium supplement and aspirin are ok to be used.

Hope I have answered the question.

Ok. My breathing is back under control. But the right side of my chest still feels slightly tight. I have high blood pressure as well. Im not in extreme pain but my chest still feels tight. Is it possible I had a silent heart attack?
