Hi I Recently Felt Something On My Neck And Went
Question: Hi I recently felt something on my neck and went to the GP, she said it's swollen lymph nodes. The strange thing is that they feel like a pulled string and it's horizontal on the lower part of the neck. It feels like little granules (very small) attached to this very hard rope horizontally. My GP said that's what it can feel like and wasn't concerned. Also I have no infection just a little irritation if my throat some times (I have a little bit of allergies but not too much and a slight form of asthma). I'm worried about something serious, I have the brca1 gene and I worry about every little thing. She didn't seem worried but I would love some more reassurance.
Brief Answer:
Doesn't seem like anything serious
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
These findings as described by you, doesn't suggest any serious problem. May be just normal veins or tiny lymph nodes.
BRCA has probably no part in this.
As your GP has already examined, I don't think anything else is required.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Thanks so much! Just to clarify so I can stop worrying about this. If there was an undetected cancer in the breast it wouldn't be the neck's lymph nodes to swell up but more the axillary or chest right?
Brief Answer:
Yes, in that case, the axillary node first then neck
Detailed Answer:
Hence this is extremely unlikely to be related to undetected breast cancer.

Thanks so much for your help! I have had a breast MRI last July and a breast ultrasound at the end of November so it's very unlikely that anything undetected wasn't found or showed up so fast to travel to my neck already right? I'm sorry, I know these are silly questions, I have become hypochondriac since the results of the genetic test and waiting now for a risk reducing surgery so I'm a bit in edge. I would appreciate if you could help reassure. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Yes very unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Considering these recent results, breast cancer is all the more unlikely to happen.
I feel there is nothing to worry.
