Hi, I Recently Had A Possible Hiv Exposure I Met
I recently had a possible hiv exposure I met a girl on tender and the condom broke. I went to the Dr. and was given biktarvy for PEP at around 40hrs after the exposure. The Dr. did HIV gen4 test and STI panel all were negative. A few days later it burned when I urinated and had painful ejaculation went back to the Dr. and he gave me a shot of Ceftriaxone 250 Mg and Levofloxacin 500 Mg for 7 days and ran the STI panel again everything came back negative. The burning and pain went away about 3 days after starting the antibiotics but now I have had muscle pain all over my body for over a week and maybe thrush and tingling in my left arm and leg and tons of anxiety.
Questions
1. Does biktarvy work for PEP?
2. Could any of the meds cause muscle pain and tingling in the arms and legs?
3. Could the burning and painful ejaculation be a sign of hiv?
4. How soon and what kind of HIV test should I get?
5. Could anxiety cause some of my symptoms?
Complete the PEP and you may need tests, if symptoms persist.

Oral thrush is possible with long term broad spectrum oral antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Thrush - You mean oral thrush?
Longterm broad spectrum antibiotics can precipitate oral thrush in some individual, But quite unusual that it could occur within a week. Don't imagine anything by yourself. Confirm whether it is oral thrush or not from a physician.

PEP Protocol should be followed as per guidelines
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
As per recommendation the individual on PEP has to undergo a series of HIV test apart from the baseline HIV test on the completion of 4th week and another after 12th week after the exposure. Previously they used to advise another test 6 months afer the exposure, but nowadays 12th week test will be enough as per the guidelines. If all these tests are nonreactive then only it is confimed that you are free from HIV infecton.

Thanks again!
Your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV infection or PEP
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Earliest manifestations of HIV can manifest not earlier than 4 weeks after the exposure and tingling and numbness are not common symptoms for early HIV manifestations.
I would be like to know whether you are a diabetic or an alcoholic?
You had mentioned that you are on Pregabalin. What for you are taking Pregabalin which is usually given for neurogenic pain or tingling sensation?
