Hi I Recently Realized That My Gut Seems To Not

Question: Hi

I recently realized that my gut seems to not react positively to whey protein (I am quite certain the issue is not lactose since my body reacts worse to a protein powder which contains only 1 gram of sugar per serving than a glass of milk which contains 10 grams of lactose.. Also, I am fine eating mascarpone and other soft cheeses). However, my body also seems to reacts positively to the aforementioned whey protein and milk....

I experienced diarrhea and brain fog due to milk and a protein powder with both casein and whey protein. However, my libido and energy had been down for four months before I tried this protein powder. Both those issues mostly disappeared for a week after taking that protein powder. The ingredients in that protein powder is:

Milk protein Isolate (micellar casein, whey),

Emulsifier,

Lecithin,

Thickening agent: Xanthan gym.

Low fat cacao (cappuccino Real, Chocolate Fudge), coffe ( Cappuccino Real), Flavor,

Sweetener (Aspartame*, Accesulfame).

Also, they market it with the following nutritional content for one serving (I only took half of a serving per day):

33 g protein

1 g of carbs

0.6 g of fat

500 mg calcium

260 mg phosphorous

44 mg potassium

32 mg magnesium

18 mg sodium

What I need to understand is... I understand why this protein powder would help me recuperate faster. However, why would it give me more energy and bring my libido back to normal?

Hi, yes, I think I need to add additional information regarding myself; I am not a vegetarian and eat meat every day with almost every meal. So, I shouldn't be deficient in any amino acid. I eat more than 200 grams of meat nearly every day.

Yet, it only took a 20-30 grams of the whey protein to make that impact on my libido.. Also, my sleeping improved as well.

Brief Answer:
If you are lactose intolerance you may need to maintain your food diet better.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your clarification. If you are a heavy exercise and workout person you need more supplement protein. Normally protein intake a day should be 0.8gm per kilogram of the body weight. 200gm of meat equal to protein 26 gm only so you can calculate with your body weight if it is enough for you or not. Whey protein can help build and maintain muscle mass and strength. Whey protein digests quickly in your gut and they are rich in amino acids. If you are lactose intolerance you may need to maintain your food diet better.

Hope I have answered your query. If you do not need any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you have good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Well, my question was why whey protein would improve my sleep and libido while also destroying my gut and give me brain fog... I am only hoping for a few ideas that I can ask my doctor to test.

BTW, I meant that I eat about 200 grams of meat with nearly every meal, not every day. So, I am quite certain I get enough protein.
