Question: Hi, I suffer from severe insomnia since 3 month. No other symptoms. Right now I'm very much afraid, that this could be caused by a brain tumor. Is this weird? Or possible? As I said, no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Insomnia doesn’t mean tumor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

I understand your concerns but tumor causing insomnia alone with no other symptoms would be highly uncommon. There are several other common causes of chronic insomnia, the most frequent being mental stress, depression, anxiety, intake of stimulant substances like tea, coffee or alcohol, frequent change in working shifts, eating heavily or spicy in the night. Systemic diseases like cancer, heart disease, asthma, gastro-esophageal reflux disease and brain illnesses like parkinson’s, alzheimer’s can also cause insomnia but primary causes as I mentioned above are more common. As I said already, tumor is unlikely to present only with insomnia and no other symptom.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, I shall be glad to answer them.
