Question: Hi, I usually buy a lot of milk for my big family and the other day I finished a half gallon and went to open up a new one and noticed the seal broken, I thought it was weird but figured one of the kids did it. I've been having diarrhea so I've been thinking that maybe the milk came with the seal broken from the grocery store. What are the chances of me getting a serious disease like hep C or HIV if there were any body fluids in the milk?

Brief Answer:
You can't get HIV or Hep C by eating contaminated food.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Hepatitis C or HIV are not spread by eating contaminated food with this viruses.
The HIV is very fragile and can't resist longer in the environment also does hepatitis C.
HIV and hep C virus are soon destroy in stomach by stomach fluids.
So as a conclusion even if small amount of blood or semen were in that open milk bottle they can't transmit infection of HIV and HepC to you if you drink it.

Hope I have answered the question.
