Question: Hi I was at Dunkin Donuts now what to believe packets of ketchup I believe i got two of them not really sure now I had alot of things in my right hand all of a sudden one of them is missing the other one I have definately the other one i do not know but i made ccontacvt the one that is missing or thats what I think hiv tes?

HIV is not known to spread in that way...

Hi,

HIV is a very fragile virus. It doesn't stay alive and active outside human body environment. So without a favorable environment, HIV would not remain active to infect you through ketchup packets.

Hence you need not be overly worried about HIV.

Need not be worried about HIV...

Hi,

Physical contact with HIV infected subject is not sufficient to get you infected. It spreads through bruises, needle sharing, unprotected sexual intercourse and through vertical means - blood transfusions and mother to child (during child bearing). So what ever substance you made contact with is not known to infect you. So really there is no need to be concerned about HIV.

Hi,

As I mentioned, HIV is not known to spread by simple touch and contact. So no, you don't need to be worried. Carrying a napkin or any other substance will not make you infected. You can be relaxed.

Apologies for the late reply....

Saliva has inhibitory components that protects against infective particles. HIV is a fragile virus and in most cases, it isn't able to survive in the saliva medium. So I don't think you will be infected even if you had swallowed any of the contents.

So the bottom line is I am still not concerned.

As a physician I am not fully equipped with the latest developments with regards to ROP; an ophthalmologist will know better.
