Hi, I Was Bitten By A Dog On 21 October

Question: Hi,
I was bitten by a dog on 21 October and took my first anti-rabies vaccine on the same day. Unfortunately, I was again bitten by a stray dog today. Now, my second dosage of the anti-rabies vaccine is scheduled for tomorrow. Should I start the vaccination from the beginning or continue with the present regimen of vaccination?

Please advise as I am scared to death. Is there any harm if I start the vaccination from the beginning? Also, when I was bitten three days ago, I hadn't taken tetanus injection. Should I take now? I had taken a tetanus injection 3 months ago.

I am waiting for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Continue old schedule

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

There is no need for restarting a new schedule. You must continue the old schedule. The continuing schedule will protect you against both the bites and also for next 3 to 4 years.

There is no need for a tetanus shot too. A dose of TT will protect you for 5 years .

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Thank you for your answer. But, will there be a problem if I start vaccination from the start? I mean, will it affect my body's ability to produce enough antibodies to fight against the rabies virus?

Honestly, I would like to start from the beginning. Please suggest.

Does not make difference

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

You can restart. It does not make any difference. There will be no failure in attaining the immunity for sure.
