Question : Hi, I was diagnosed with lymphadenitis last night. It is 4:17pm the next day. I was prescribed cephalexin, and feel no difference (swelling in the single swollen lymph node has not gone down). Should I be concerned I feel no difference? How long do antibiotics take to work?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
48 hours

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
You should not be worried. It usually takes 48 hours for antibiotics to act. Also, pain and swelling will remain for upt to week after antibiotics are started. However, if fever elevates, or redness and swelling progresses, you should do lab to see if antibiotics should be changed or IV allocation is required. Wish you good health
