Hi. I Was Prescribed Azithromycin 250 Mg And Methylprednisolone 4

Question: Hi. I was prescribed Azithromycin 250 mg and Methylprednisolone 4 mg Dospak 21s to fight an infection four days after being prescribed Cefdinir 500* mg after symptoms worsened and persisted. I'm writing because I'm concerned I might be experiencing an adverse reaction - I'm experiencing moderate restlessness and shaking about half an hour after taking the first day dose of the Z pack and the Methylprednisolone. I'm also wondering what if any interaction might exist with Diazepam 10 mg with the Methylprednisolone. Both of these - Z pack and Methylprednisolone - were taken with water about two minutes apart and later I ate a slice of turkey and bread.

Present condition is mildly improved compared to five minutes ago, though I am still tensed up. Major allergies are penicillin and sulfa. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Methylprednisolone may cause irritability and tension

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask a Doctor service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Azythromycine (Z-pack) does not generally cause shakiness. Methylprednisolone may cause irritability and tension which may present with shakiness. Also, a panic attack or anxiety may present with shakiness.

If the episodes of shakiness last less than half an hour then this is typical of a panic attack and methylprednisolone may be triggering it.

It is generally not dangerous but if it is becoming too bothersome you will need to talk to your doctor. Meanwhile, try to avoid caffeine and energy drinks and try to keep active.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
