Hi I Was Taking Plaquenil For 6 Weeks To Treat
Question: Hi
I was taking Plaquenil for 6 weeks to treat Granuloma annularre. I have now ceased the tablets as in the last 3 weeks I have lost a great deal of hair. My legs and eyebrows have been affected too. What is this type of hair loss called and is it temporary? Will the hair will regrow? If so how long could it take to see improvement.
Thank you

Not in patches. But generally over the crown of my scalp. Also eyebrows affected and legs must be too as I haven’t need to shave them for a couple of weeks now.
No other ailments. Just Granuloma annularre but that is insignificant compared to the hair loss experienced trying to treat it.
Brief Answer:
Telogen effluvium, temporary hair loss
Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints it seems to be telogen effluvium which could be due to intake of plaquenil.
It is temporary hair loss.
Hair should regrow after stopping the drug; but it usually takes 4-6 months to see significant regrowth.
