Question: Hi
I went to travel in key west yesterday and in XXXXXXX Hemingway house, one of their cats bites me. It didn’t bleed but it swelled a little bit. After an hour it’s only a little bit redness. According to their employees, their cats have vaccine and regular vet check. I’m not sure do I need to take rabies shot or not? Because in my country, you need to take rabies shot if cat bites you within 24 hours but I checked online somebody says It’s unnecessary to do that if a vaccined cat bites you. So I’m a little confused right now.

Brief Answer:
No need for rabies shot

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dingyifei2008,

No need to worry. All you have to do is keep an eye on the bite and contact a doctor if it gets more red or painful or if you develop a fever. I would also recommend that you get your tetanus vaccine updated.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
