Hi, I'm 28 Year Old Male. Three Years Ago I
Question: Hi,
I'm 28 year old male. Three years ago I have been diagnosed with Hepatitis B. My mother and my father also diagnosed hepB positive. We have consulted a doctor and he asked to take a medicine everyday. My mother and father were taking the medicine daily. Actually the medicine is a vitamin tablet called Shircal(Calcium vitamin d3). I wasn't taking this tablet.
My father actually tested hbsag -ve two months before. I have no idea how that happened. We have done retest in different labs. all came with a hbsag -ve result.
Today I have done a blood test for liver function and kidney function. I saw a variation in SGPT. That's why I am here.
My questions.
1. Should I be concerned about the high level of SGPT.
2. Should I take the calcium and vitamin D3 tablet.?
3. Any reason why my father got it negative (hbsag -ve)
Appreciate any help.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Answer given below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
1. The SGPT is not significantly elevated. We will consider it significant only if it is more than two times the upper limit of normal
2. There is no indication for you to take Calcium and D3
3. Few spontaneously become negative for Hep B. That is what has happened to your father. Check his HBV DNA to confirm.

Dr.R.K.

Hi,
Thank you Sir for the help. I have some follow up questions.
I'm doing weight training exercises regularly. And I'm taking Whey protein after my workout. Is it okay for me to take whey protein?
Any other Do's and Don't you can suggest for me and parents.
Thanks,
Renjith R
