Brief Answer:
Regarding chlamydia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and viewed the report.

You have been treated adequately for chlamydia. It is a serological test for chlamydia and it is going to stay positive irrespective of treatment. It is an indicator of the immune response that your body mounted against chlamydia infection. It is neither a test for cure nor for confirmation of diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Hi Dr . Kakkar,

Thank you for your response.

I do have a few other questions:

I wasn't aware I had Chlamydia until now. The treating doctor in October'19 assumed I had a bacterial infection and prescribed me with Azithromycin and Doxycycline.

The pain didn't subside in November"19 and I wasn't sure what was wrong so I also visited an urologist. He stated I had
balanoposthitis due to phimosis and performed circumcision. The urologist had given me Ceftum which I found to be effective and reduced the pain considerably.

Does Ceftum also treat Chlamydia? As the urologist thought he was treating a regular bacterial infection.

So after 3 months, I have visited the original treating doctor with the same report and he has again prescribed me Azithromycin and Doxycycline for 3 weeks. Note - I do have mild pain while urinating and pain near the groin area after ejaculating.

Can I take Ceftum instead? Are there any other medicines which I can take?

Thank you so much for your help.

Brief Answer:
Regarding chlamydia

Detailed Answer:
hi.
If you again developed symptoms after adequate treatment then it could be a reinfection from your partner. Was you partner treated?simultaneously. Ceftum may work but Azithromycin and Doxycycline work fine for chlamydia and is recommended according to guidelines.
Take care

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

I refrained from sex after the initial infection, thus I am not sure if the infection was completely cured as I still have symptoms.

The symptoms of intermittent groin was still present after the treatment of Azithromycin and Doxycycline.

There is no discharge, pus, rash or redness in the area. The urologist who performed circumcision stated that mild discomfort while urinating and groin pain isn't necessarily a symptom of Chlamydia. Do I have a false positive for Chlamydia? If yes, are there any STD's which I haven't tested myself which might have given this false positive? Or any other condition?

Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
Regarding chlamydia

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I would rather advice you to take a urine spot test for chlamydia. It is a Nucleic acid based amplification test and is more sensitive and specific than a blood test which ideally requires paired sera testing to demonstrate change in a antibody titres as diagnostic of infection.
Take care.
