Hi! I’ve Been Having GERD Alike Syptoms For About 3
Question: Hi! I’ve been having GERD alike syptoms for about 3 weeks. Heavy chest feeling, burning sensation in my ribs, I have to take deep breaths, etc. last night I had a spell of lightheadness and feeling faint. That has happened about 3-4 other times through the month. I had a blood clot test, chest X-Ray. Doc said my DVT showed I had no clotting issues. However, could that test miss a PE? Also, since January I have taken about 6-7 flights back and forth from NC to LA.

In fact the most common and frequent complaint in PE is shortness of breathing.
I also agree with you that your symptoms may be related to a digestive disorder (hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux, etc.).
I recommend to discuss with your GPor internist on the opportunity of sharing any gastric anti-secretory drug (like pantoprazole, omeprazole, etc ).
In addition, if the symptoms persist It may be necessary performing a fibrogastroscopy.
