Hi, I've Had A Sore And Itchy Throat For Two

default
Posted on Sat, 21 Sep 2019
Question: Hi, I've had a sore and itchy throat for two days and when I cough it is usually clear but I do get some yellow mucus. I feel like I have mucus or something on my throat and it hurts to swallow.

My neck also hurts to touch in places at the moment it's about mid way down the neck on the side below the ear on both sides. Also under my jaw on my right side of the neck.

I suspect it's just the beginning of a cold but just thought I'd ask if I should go to my GP? I've had throat lozenges but it hasn't helped much.

I've also had a bit of a headache and my nose is still clear and a bit of a cough. My temperature is currently 37.2 .c from the mouth.

I%E2%80%99ve attached a picture of my mouth just to check if it looks alright because I don't know what it should look like.

Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
as stated, in keeping with a cough/cold

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

As you stated, the symptoms are in keeping with a cough/cold.

You can consider the use of medication such as panadol multisymptom (it would have a pain reliever, decongestant to help with nasal symptoms and decrease the mucus dripping to the back of the throat, antihistamine and cough suppressant)
There are other cough and cold meds that can also be used, you may want to use a combination medication eg (1)advil cold and sinus (pain killer and decongestant only),

(2) robitussin multisymptom CF (cough suppressant, decongestant, mucolytic-to break up the mucus
You would need to add a pain medication such as tylenol or advil or aleve

Fluids and rest are also very important as well

There is mucus to the back of the throat and it is slightly red but other than that it is okay

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
