Hi, I've Recently Experienced Symptoms That Match Genital Herpes .
Question: Hi, I've recently experienced symptoms that match genital herpes. Im a virgin and Ive only ever had any intimate or sexual experiences with one person and they have been tested and are clean. How could I have contracted genital herpes if the only person Ive ever even kissed is clean? Im going to get tested today to make sure it is herpes, but the symptoms and lesions match exactly. I read that it can be contracted through body fluids so maybe I ate contaminated food or didnt wash my hand after touching a contaminated object?
Brief Answer:
Genital herpes, acyclovir tablets recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my advice.
It would be better if you attach a photo of the rash to reports in order to clarify if it is herpes or not.
If the herpes is in genital area it is genital herpes or herpes 2. It can't be caused by kissing but by skin to skin contact of genital area even with only one sexual contact and even though the partner doesn't have an outbreak.
Taking acyclovir orally can help it not to spread more. Also acyclovir ointment can be used.
Hope I have answered the question.
