Question: Hi, My husband was just eating and when he swallowed he felt a pop above the XXXXXXX apple not in the trachea but in muscle attached to the trachea. Extreme pain when he swallows not as bad between. He has had allergies and sinus issues and area has been swollen and inflamed for a few weeks. Any idea what it could be or any solutions? Brief Answer:
This might be due to muscular injury.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on 'Ask A Doctor' forum.
I can understand your concern.

As per the history and description, the possibility of muscular pain is more likely.

Since you are telling that area is swollen and inflamed, can you please send me a picture of that area? This would be of great help. You can simply upload/attach it to the 'Reports section' of this web page only.

He can take a simple painkiller like Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen for this pain.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Wishing your husband good health.
Thanks.
