Focal 2-2.5 disc bulges are noted causing a mass effect on the thecal sac and perineural fat.No significant nerve root impingement seen.
I%E2%80%99m concerned because it says mass effect does that mean it%E2%80%99s a tumor? or could it be nothing?

Brief Answer:
Not a tumor or a serious condition.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.
I have read your query about MRI results.
Itis not a tumor, the mass effect is caused by the protruded intervertebral disc on the coverings of the spinal cord.
Since there is no myelomalacia ( the compression is confined only on the coverings not the spinal cord itself ) the condition seems to be not a severe one.
Since the symptoms are mainly located on your legs, I think that an MRI of your lumbosacral spine and nerve condition studies of your legs are necessary for a correct diagnosis.
Discuss with your Neurologist for these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
