Question: Hi! My name is XXXXXXX I’m 64 years old, 6’3”, 202 pounds.

I’ve been experiencing night sweats for about a year now. Two weeks ago I had a large aortic aneurysm repaired. 8.7 cm. I believe the repair has been completely successful. Two days later, my temperature would fluctuate between 96.7 to 103. It is better now, but still between 97 and 100, still the drenching night sweats. Strong morning ‘scent’

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a local inflammation or infection.

Coming to this point,it is also necessary performing some blood lab tests to investigate for the possible causes underlying these body temperature fluctuations:

- complete blood count for infection
- PCR and sedimentation rate for inflammation
- thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction.

Further tests may be needed (Rheumatoid factor levels, ANA, XXXXXXX levels, etc.).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

In the meantime, I would recommend taking ibuprofen or indomethacine against inflammation.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
