Question: Hi,
My right side tonsil is different in shape compared to my left side. I feel there's extra layer of skin around/next to my oval shape tonsil. What causes this irregular shape?

Chronic tonsillitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query.
I have seen the picture attached by you.
The tonsillar enlargement can be asymmetrical as in your case. It is a physiological change which might be due to repeated throat infections.
It is completely normal in your case and there is nothing to be worried about.
Any further questions are always welcome.
I hope my advice proves helpful.
Take care
Thanks and regards

Thank you doctor. My doctor is concerned about tonsil cancer. Can you please reassure it is not as such or do I need to check with ENT people.

I can see some yellow spots and even though I took antibiotics I feel it's still there. Is that normal?

What medication I can take to resolve this problem?

Is it possible that I might have this irregular shape for a long time such as 6 or months?

Brief Answer:
Chronic tonsillitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up query.
The white spots are a sign of chronic tonsillitis. From the appearance it doesn't seem to be malignant or cancerous at all..
The enlargement of tonsils in chronic tonsillitis as I said can be asymmetrical but it is definitely not malignancy.
You should take a proper course of antibiotics and use chlorhexidine gargles.
You should visit an ENT specialist for the prescription

I hope my advice proves helpful and clears your doubts.
Stay healthy
Thanks and regards
