Hi My Son Is 4 Years And 9 Months Old.
Question: Hi
My son is 4 years and 9 months old. Yesterday he had a blood test. It shows that his sugar level is 116mg. This was without fasting . Did this test one and a half hours after food.
We repeated this test today. This is also without fasting. The sugar level is 89mg.
Is there any problem? Is it ok? Is he prediabetic? We have to take any precautions against this?

Brief Answer:
This is completely normal do not worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, this is completely normal. Do not worry about your four year old being in pre diabetic range.
If a kid runs for 5 minutes to 10 minutes and then the test is taken it can be shown like this due to stress response.
Unless he is extremely tired all the time with increased urination and losing his weight and failing to thrive, you need not worry about kids being in diabetic range please.

He is very active and his urination also normal. But his height and weight is very low compared to other children. His weight is 13.5kg and 95cm height. My husband is 168cm height and 58kg weight. My weight is 58kg and height 158cm. Is it ok for him ?
Brief Answer:
This is not ok for him and he will require evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi... as compared to the general population he needs evaluation for his weight.
I agree that when compared to your height he is ok but not when compared to his weight as per the age.
But at the same time if both of you as parents were very small like this when you were kids, then you can wait because he is active and developmentally normal.
