Hi, My Wife Has Dry Skin Above Her Upper Lip

Question: Hi,
My wife has dry skin above her upper lip. She showed it to the doctor today and the doctor said it might be lip-licking dermatitis or psoriasis. I have attached a pic of the affected area. Sometimes due to dryness, the area turns reddish.
Please advise as to what the problem could be.

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have read your query and viewed the image.

Yes, it could be lip lick dermatitis though psoriasis is very unlikely on or around lips.
Unfortunately the image is not very clear. I request you to kindly upload another good quality image of the affected area.
For a lip lick dermatitis I would suggest her to use a mild topical steroid cream e.g Desowen cream (desonide 0.05% ), twice daily for a week. Thereafter, one may continue with the lip balm.
Avoidance of the lip licking habit is of prime importance.
