Hi there

Thanks for the query.

Does she have any pain which is moving from the lower back region to the legs down to the feet? Any pins and needles sensation over the legs or any weakness of legs?

Usually when a person coughs and suddenly gets low back pain it could indicate that there is a slip disc in the spine which has progressed and maybe come pressing on the nerves which travel to the legs.

For pain relief she can take paracetamol, ibuprofen and application of hot fomentation. Avoid bending forward or lifting heavy objects.

If she does not improve it would be wise to get an MRI of the lumbar spine to look for any such slip disc.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow-up queries.

Thanks for the reply.

It's most likely a slip disc which has progressed after the cough. Try the treatment mentioned earlier. Once she improves she can do physiotherapy. If sunroof still do not get better then an MRI lumbosacral spine would be a good idea.

No there's no such pain in legs or any kind of needle sensations. It's only the lower back which is having pain and stiffness
