Hi, My Wife Is Suffering From Pain In Right Hand
Question: Hi, My wife is suffering from pain in right hand at palm area between thumb and wrist. Some times the pain extends to shoulder as well. She was knocking the door with that hand sevaral times as my son, 3 years old, by mistake locked the bathroom door and we dint notice it for few minutes. She has been suffering this from past three days, pain still didn't reduce. Keeping ice reduces pain for few minutes only. Could you suggest some medicine? Hi, I am attaching the image again. She is having the pain from past three days. Yes pain development is after the incident only. No previous medical conditions. She is home maker. Age 32 years. Little swelling, it was little bluish yesterday. Today that blue colour reduced after keeping ice. Regards, Khadar

There is some bluish hue to the skin area; but I don't see any other significant alterations. Perhaps if you can send picture of both the hands together I can see a difference.
Sometimes repeatedly banging door with the palm of hand may cause some injuries to the superficial veins resulting in such changes. But if the pain hasn't reduced in the last 3 days or if it is getting worse, it should be physically evaluated.
I would suggest to try antinflammatory drugs (instead of the previous medication I suggested) like tab zerodol 100mg twice daily after food for 2-3 days for pain relief. You need not ice it further. Give adequate rest to the hand. If she works on computer / laptop, she should rest the affected hand.
Assuming you cannot reach a doctor now, I would observe the condition as we treat it with rest and zerodol tablets. If the proper escalates or if the problem doesn't resolve, I will insist to see a doctor.
