Question: Hi Sir,
I have been suffering from severe pain in the thigh and waist area since last few days specifically on the right leg. The pain gets worse during the late evening/night. A severe tickling sensation is experienced while attempting to walk for few steps which makes walking even for basic essential activities very difficult. Also, there has been instances of uncontrolled frequent urinations in the last few days. I need support for walls and other objects for balancing while attempting to walk.

I am diabetic and consume the following medications:
Amaryl 1mg - 1 tab in Morning and 1 tab in Evening
Glycomet 500mg - 1 tab in Morning and 1 tab in Evening
The recent readings of sugar level is:
Before meal: 103
After meal: 142

I have been taking Gebapin 300mg twice daily but it has not helped so far.

Kindly suggest.

Brief Answer:
The symptoms are suggestive of a pinched nerve in lower back region.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the clinical details. Based on that, there seems to be a pinched nerve in lower back (lumbar region), which is giving rise to the radicular pain involving thigh and waist area.

An "MRI of lumbo-sacral spine" would help in confirming the diagnosis.

In the meanwhile, we can try PREGABALIN 75 mg twice daily for about 10 days. At night PROTHIADEN 25 mg once daily can be added.

Avoid lifting heavy weights and forward bending. Only essential movements within home such as for toilet and food, is preferable.

Hi Sir,
I was unfortunately unable to conduct the "MRI of lumbo-sacral spine" due to the prolonged lockdown in the area.
Also, I had badly hurt myself on Tuesday while attempting to sit on the bed. This resulted in pain in the entire leg and almost negligible movement for next couple of days.
However, presently I seem to be in a comparatively better position. But, still it's very difficult for taking each steps (generally taken with external support)
Kindly suggest whether I shall continue with the current medication or any change is required.
Best regards
