Brief Answer:
Regarding laser for tattoo
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.
I would suggest that you go for a FDA approved laser for tattoo e.g Q switched Nd:YAG laser (red and black ink), Alexendrite laser (green and blue ink) which would be available with a professional rather than opt for a home use, DIY device, which I am sure is not FDA approved and not versatile if your tattoo is multi colored and therefore cannot guarantee neither its safety nor its efficacy for a tattoo.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thanks Dr. Kakkar! I've actually already purchased the laser, and I'm afraid they don't offer refunds as far as I'm aware.
If I follow the directions in the leaflet, will it work to remove the tattoos?
Regarding safety, what would the risks / downsides be? From all of the feedback that I've read, it seems like it really does work and the side effects are minimal.

Regarding laser
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Ok. You can try it. Use it for a small test spot first at a low setting. Just do one or 2 passes. The end point should be a formation of a white frost at the site of treatment. Post treatment you may use a topical antibiotic e.g Neosporin ointment or Mupirocin ointment. Redness, burn, scab formation and scarring could be the side effects of any laser including this one. So use it at a low setting and dont overdo it. Just 1 or 2 passes. A thin frost should be the end point. Subsequently you may go to higher setting, if it works.
Take care.
