Hi, This Is For My Wife (Sreya), Aged 42 Years.

Question: Hi, This is for my wife (Sreya), aged 42 years. She has been having hemorrhoids after childbirth and was on homeopathic treatment which kept them under control. We have shifted to the US 4 years back and about 4-5 months back, she has the problem. One or two small hemorrhoids were protruding from the anus and then she took some medicines - Butler's Hemorrhoid ointment and Naticura Hemcontrol tablets for a few days and the problem went away. Sine yesterday, she is facing the problem again and suddenly the size of the hemorrhoid increased. She is in pain. Has taken the same medicines but the problem hasn't subsided. What can we do or what OTC medicines are available in the US that we can get? Because of the pandemic situation, visiting doctors etc has become a problem. Please see the attached pics and suggest what is the best course of action? It would be great if you could suggest some medication that would heal and give relief to the pain. Looking for an urgent response.

The medicines mentioned were earlier prescribed by a doctor here only. because the size is big and there is pain involved, please suggest alternate medicine and the general time in which they will provide relief. My wide was saying that the hemorrhoids were again coming up but the size was small and there was no paid so she didn't bother until yesterday when the size increased suddenly.
Brief Answer:
She may need more time to get better.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Possibly she has been constipated and that can be the cause of the worsening of hemorrhoids.
I think that the best ointments she can use are the ones she has such doctor Butler's ointment or natural hem control pills.
They can be taken without a prescription.
Use oral pain killers such ibuprofen or tylenol for pain.
Also have silts baths from time to time for 10-15 minutes.
She may need some time to get better at least 5-6 days.
Hope I have answered the question.
