Hi , This Query Is For Hematologist Only. Please Pass
Kindly, upload CBC and HPLC report.Advised vitamin B12 and folic acid levels
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
HPLC - High performance liquid chromatography is the method used to detect different types of hemoglobins or hemoglobin variants in our blood.
The major concern of HPLC for hemoglobin variant study before conception is to detect any abnormally elevated hemoglobin in blood which may be transmitted to unborn child and cause diseases like thalassemia.
Elevated Hb F is associated with thalassemia.
However, before labeling anyone as thalassemia carrier, it is important to rule out vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiency.
I would request you to upload a complete blood count (CBC) report and HPLC report for hemoglobin variant since no report is attached with the query.
In addition, do get vitamin B12 and folic acid assay to assess their adequacy.
In case vitamin B12 and / or folic acid are low, supplements need to be taken for deficiency and then again HPLC for hemoglobin variant needs to be performed.
Thanks and take care

Hb F is only mildly elevated and is normal for age of the subject.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
I have gone through the HPLC and CBC report.
The haemoglobin is within range for age.
HPLC shows mild elevation of Hb F which is normal for age and may decrease with increasing age.
The risk of hemoglobinopathies like thalassemia carrier state or disease state is negligible. You may repeat HPLC after completion of vitamin B12 and folic acid supplementation.
Vitamin D supplementation is also required since levels are quite low.
Thanks and take care
