Question: Hi. What are the symptoms of Eustachian tube dysfunction and how can you get it? I have had a ear infection for about 2 weeks and on my 2 round of antibiotics and the stuffy feeling in my right ear is not going away. No other pain or tinittis like symptoms just the stuffy feeling. Have had my ear looked at and it’s definitely not ear wax buildup either

Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube dysfunction explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query.

The symptoms can be related to Eustachian tube dysfunction.
This condition is commonly caused by common cold or flu.
In your case, it can be related to the ear infection that you had for two weeks.
I suggest to use a decongestant such as Dexometorphan to relieve the congestion.
I also suggest to do exercises such as chewing gum or swallowing.
It can help in opening the Eustachian tube.
The condition usually gets better in a few weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
