Question: Hi and a quick question. Please let me know what to do here. I currently take the medication Viibryd - at 15 mg and I am switching over to Zoloft because I am trying to get pregnant and my doctor thinks that is a safer medication for me. I cannot reach him but I forgot to ask about dosage. He gave me 50 mg tablets - but I am reading that just starting at 50 may cause too many side effects. I do have viibryd in my system so will it be ok to start at 50? or should i start at half of that dose for a little while? Will I experience major side effects if i switch over to zoloft tomorrow? Please let me know!

From the available description I feel 25 mg will be the appropriate dose to start with which can be increased to 50 mg per day after interval of one week. The risk of serotonin syndrome is always high with higher starting dose and it is better to start with low dose when you are already taking serotonergic medication (vibryd).
