Hello,

I have gone through your query and reviewed attached images. Here is my advice.

Usually, varicose veins looks enlarged and dilated/bulgy. It typically appears swollen and raised on touch/palpation.

As per attached images, it's not bulgy/swollen. So I think it's a superficial vein.

Still please let me know do you have pain/heaviness in legs or history/work profile of standing for long time?

In that case, I would suggest you to consult with surgeon for detailed clinical examination. He may procure ultrasound/venogram as per evaluation.

Till then, I would suggest you,
1. Avoid standing for long time.
2. Do regular exercises to improve circulation.
3. Loose weight if you are obese.

Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Yes everything is fine. We did a ultrasound 5 years ago and I had it checked with him recently and he said it may be varicose but I really do think he said that just to get me to take private treatment. In my report last time it reported minor backflow of blood. I did check this with my GP and he said the same thing as you.

Yes I would say I am overweight only by a stone and a half.

Shall I shed the weight and just continue to worry it. Why are veins sometimes close to the surface? I can’t see it being bulgy maybe see a Small S shapes Vein. Would u say it still is normal as veins come in all sizes

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Superficial veins may have different shapes, but varicose veins looks typically bulgy/enlarged and twisted.

As at present, you don't have any symptoms, so nothing to worry. Kindly follow all measures as suggested earlier.

Still your last ultrasound showed minor backflow of blood. So I would suggest you to consult with surgeon and repeat venogram to check current status.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
