Hi Doctor, As Discussed Already Regarding My Father Health Who

As discussed already regarding my father health who has done his ERCP, you told to wait and watch on any symptoms before removing his gallbladder, Last week unfortunately he has stomach pain and was admitted in the hospital and they have advised my father to remove the stent from his gallbladder from the hospital he has done the ERCP ! Why this happened ? should I really need to go that hospital only for the stent removal ? And why the doctor have kept this type of stent which causes problem ?
Pain could be due to Stent.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
In the first instance, stones in the Common bile duct were removed by ERCP and Stent was placed. It is routine.
As the source of Common bile duct stones is Gallbladder,it has to be removed too.In the mean time, your father developed pain. Most probably, the doctors might have thought that the Stent caused pain.As the Stent is a foreign body, it's better to get it removed. It doesn't depend on the quality.Any stent can get infected and cause pain.It is preferable to go to the Hospital and get the stent removed.
His Gall bladder can be removed Laparoscopically.Plan for this procedure too.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish him good health and speedy recovery
Regards

It depends on your Surgeon
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Get an Ultrasound abdomen to rule out Gallbladder stones. If there are no stones, you can get the Stent removed now and can plan for Gallbladder removal at a later stage. But, Gallbladder removal has to be done.
Sometimes, Gallbladder gets infected and inflammed causing pain ,fever etc.To avoid these complications,it has to be removed as early as possible.
Hope I answered your question.
Regards

Thanks for the assistance, I would also like to know, whether it is possible only to remove the stent for now and gallbladder later or it is mandatory to do the operation for both immediately ?
