Hi Doctor I Had An Encounter With A Woman, There
I had an encounter with a woman, there was no sex involved just deep kissing, my concern is hepatitis B
I did a test at 6.5 weeks (44 days) came back negative and all other STDs came back negative too
I am very worried at the moment because 2 weeks after the incident i developed joint pain in my fingers, my big toe, knees and elbows and rashes started to appear and disappear within hours and its an ongoing thing
I am worried if this is a symptom of hep b because checking medical studies it shows its associated with rheamutoid arthritis
Doctor advised me its less likely to contract help b via deep kissing and told me not to worry
If it was to do with hepatitis B would the antigen have shown up by 6.5 weeks, according to the CDC it states average of 4 weeks?
Regards XXXXXXX
Hepatitis B is not transmitted with with kissing.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
It is less likely to contract hepatitis B from deep kissing. Blood and intercourse are the ways of transmitting hepatitis B.
Anyway you did the STD tests and hepatitis B test which resulted negative so there is nothing to worry about hepatitis or STD.
There is no need to repeat the test.
The symptoms you had two weeks after exposure may be related to any viral infection, symptoms aren't that specific. You should not worry about it.
So as a conclusion the hepatitis B test is reliable and also hepatitis is not transmitted with deep kissing so you should not worry about it.
Hope I have answered the question.
