Question: Hi doctor

My symptoms are;

Upper abdominal pain, comes and goes.
Frequent burping. Sometimes heartburn / indigestion. There hasn%E2%80%99t been much of a change with my stool. I go regularly in the morning. Sometimes it can be soft. have attached a picture.

I saw my GP who gave me a physical
exam and felt my stomach. No pain was palpable. He said to avoid spicy food and see him in 2 weeks time.

He also did a full blood test, and tested my liver pancreas and gallbladder and all bloods were perfect. No infection markers.

I%E2%80%99m still getting the pain, I have woken two times in the night with pain and it%E2%80%99s making me worried.

My mum has had h pylori infection 8 months ago, and we have a family history of ulcers and GERD.

I have googled my symptoms and now I%E2%80%99m
Concerned about pancreases or stomach cancer.
I also have had itching on the inside of my elbow for 6years in the same spot. I%E2%80%99m worried I have Lymphoma? Although I have no swollen lympnodes.

What could be going on?

Brief Answer:
Intestine infection with GI flora upset most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query with attached photo image and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, the narrated symptoms indicate more of
underlying GI flora upset through some sort of bacterial or viral infection
and stress related exacerbation causing night time reflux provoking the
issue.

* On other hand, GERD, ulcers and H.pylori are not hereditary and so family
history does not contribute to your disease.

As the reports are quite ok and the symptoms do not co relate with lymphoma or cancer, I would quote not to panic and follow basic guidelines as

- Drink more liquids
- Prefer bland, vegan diet and avoid all spices, non veg, junk items, dairy fat
- Control anxiety and panic
- Manage sound regular sleep of 8 hours
- Avoid smoking or alcohol if consuming

* If you will provide me list of current medications prescribed by your doc, I can still guide in further details herewith.

Wish you best recovery.
Regards.

Hi Dr,

My anxiety is extremely bad at the moment.
My one year one Son has had a stroke.

I havent been prescribed any medications.

Answered by Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel (6 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
ultrasound can be obtained. main issue is stress control at this point.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Sorry to hear about condition of your son, I wish him earliest recovery.

I would not recommend endoscopy at present, yes ultrasound can be obtained from GP.

Try to control anxiety at its best which is very essential for your recovery as well as support the family in this crucial stage ; after all you are backbone of the family and you must maintain your stress.

Yoga and meditations are best remedies for stress control, rest of the suggestions already provided.

Thank you.
