Hi, For The Past Couple Of Months I Have Had

Question: Hi, for the past couple of months I have had these bumps in my genital area that are soft and moveable. I went to the doctor 3 times, and they keep saying it is either skin tags or genital warts. They gave me treatment for genital warts, but the bumps are still there and there are more of them now. I’ve been talking to a new guy recently, and because I still have the bumps I have refrained from vaginal or anal sex, but a couple weeks ago I gave him oral sex because I thought that would be safe. Now I’m overthinking and think I infected him with whatever I have even though we haven’t done anything concerning my genitals. Help!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani
I will be answering your concerns today.

Have you been tested for STDs. First get tested for STDs. Although you can transmit diseases through oral sex the chances are less compared to genital or anal sex.
First get yourself checked for STDs. Get those? skin tags/ warts treated.
May be you do not have STDs. Hence forth please take precautions.
Best wishes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Warts is caused by HPV
It is true that HPV is not tested in STD’s. This is because in women less than 25 years of age HPV is a transient infection. In 9 out of 10 HPV infected young women the infection is cleared in two years time. So do not worry about HPV infection now.
Get the ? skin tag/ wart biopsies first to confirm the diagnosis.
