Question: Hi i am wanting to know if there is a specific blood test that test for herpes or would it show up in any blood test? Ive been tested for everything else through my family doctor and was negative for everything else and also had a pap smear and check out fine there too but i didnt see anything for herpes. I get checked annually but i havent done too much as of late and im just wondering about that one test.

Ok. I know that can lay dormant right but how common is that and what are the common symptoms?

The infection is dormant in majority of those infected. Most of those infected might not be even aware that they have this infection until they first develop an eruption. It may flare up from time to time with an eruption that looks like a group of fluid filled vesicles on or around lips. The eruption may last from 5-7 days. There nay be tingling and discomfort at the site of eruption that may precede the eruption by 1-2 days.
